By Recognizing Independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Russia Got Involved in Sharp Confrontation with World Community: Georgian State Minister

Georgia, Tbilisi, 26 August/ Trend , corr N. Kirtskhalia/ Russia got involved in sharp confrontation with world community by recognizing independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Temur Yakobashvili, state minister of Georgia for re-integration said.

The Council of Federation and State Duma (Parliament) unanimously supported the appeal to President of Russian Federation to recognize independence of South Osstia and Abkhazia. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev decreed to recognize independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia on 26 August.

"This step is targeted against international community, but not Georgia as many states urged Medvedev not to recognize separatists and not to violate UN resolution," Temur Yakobashvili said.

The decision of the Russian President to recognize break-away Abkhazia and South Ossetia will lead to the full isolation of Russia from the international community, he said.
