Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 August/ Trend , corr I. Alizade/ Lala Shovkat, the leader of National Union opposition movement and co-chairman of Azadlig bloc believes that the unity and cooperation of opposition is not usually sincere.
"Therefore, the cooperation of opposition will not last long," Lala Shovkat said while answering the question whether the opposition forces can create a new union.
The presidential election in Azerbaijan is fixed for 15 October. The majority of opposition parties are going to boycott elections. Popular Front Party of Azerbaijani included in Azadlig bloc has began talks to create new center for cooperation. Several parties have decided to take part in the new union of opposition forces.
Leader of National Unity movement said that the union of opposition is just a social necessity. The issue of cooperation became important after real opposition parties boycotted elections, she said.
"I have always been the proponent of unity. But I support real forces and sincere unity," Lala Shovkat added.
She believes that the establishment of new union of opposition forces should be based on plans concerning elections.
"Under such conditions, there is a great need for the unity of opposition and it should be attached a great significance. But this union should be based on certain position. The opposition should have certain attitude toward presidential elections," co-chairman of Azadlig bloc said.
According to Shovkat, new center for cooperation should not be created in a rush. As to the fact that Democratic Party and National Independence Party will not take part in the elections, she stated that she wished more opposition parties had taken part in the union. "Today the position of parties is more important rather than the benefit from cooperation. Forces boycotting elections state that there no conditions to take part in the elections. There can be no other position. More parties clarify their positions, the better. But if some party refuses to do so, it their choice" she said.
