Russia Hopes for EU Summit

Russia hopes that the intellect will achieve superiority over the emotions, and the members the European Union will refuse unilateral estimation of those occurred in Georgia, official representative of the Foreign Ministry of Russia, Andrei Nesterenko, said to a briefing in Moscow on 29 August. 

"Active preparation is going in for the summit. I want to note the positive role of French chairmanship," said Nesterenko.

"We hope for the continuation of our co-operation which is necessary for both Russia and citizens of the European Union," Nesterenko added.

Extraordinary summit of the European Union must take place on Monday. During the summit, the EU member states plan to discuss situation in Caucasus and measures, which the European community will take in response to the actions of Russia during Georgian-Ossetian conflict.
