Georgia, Tbilisi, 8 September/ Trend , corr N. Kirtskhalia/ The European Union can impose economic sanctions against Russia if Moscow refuses to comply with the earlier signed ceasefire agreement, the Georgian expert Mamukha Areshidze said to journalists.
The Presidents of France and Russia will met in Moscow on 9 September. Presiding over EU Nicolas Sarkozy will demand to comply with the ceasefire agreement which calls for complete full pull out of Russian troops from Georgia and return of Russian forces to the positions they held until 7 August.
Russia tries to delay this process and not to withdraw forces from the territory of so called buffer zone located far from the conflict zone and it will compel Europe to take more decisive steps, Areshidze said.
He said Europe has opportunity to take efficient steps against Russia, he added.
