Azerbaijani Central Elections Commission Cancels MP’s Mandate

Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 September / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / The Azerbaijani Central Elections Commission (CEC) cancelled mandate of MP Azar Amiraslanov, the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament's standing commission on economic policy issues at the meeting on 9 September.

"Amiraslanov was appointed head of Agrarian Policy Department of the Azerbaijani President's Administration. In accordance with the law, person working at the executive body cannot be a member of the legislative body," Natig Mammadov, the secretary of the commission said at the CEC meeting on 9 September.

President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to appoint MP Amiraslanov head of the Agrarian Policy Department of the President's Administration. Amiraslanov was elected MP from Shamkir District Constituency 98 in 2005. Thirty seven-year old Amiraslanov graduated from the Azerbaijani State Economy Institute and at preset he is Candidate of Economy Sciences. Amiraslanov, the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament's standing commission on economy policy, is a member of the observation Council of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan Republic, the president of the Economic Reforms Fund, as well as member of the US National Economists Club.
