Azerbaijan’s Law Enforcement Bodies Report Armed Clash in   Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 October/ Trend , corr S. Kazimli/ Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan have disseminated reports that Farhad and Azad Guluyev, who resisted police with guns, have been detained and shot dead.

Press service of the Interior Ministry said to Trend on 3 October that on 1 October 2008, Mirkarim Khalilov, resident of Mashtaga settlement of Baku appealed Police Office of Sabunchu district claiming that his village fellow Farhad Guluyev who was earlier convicted, threatened him by revolver and forced him to give his sedan of Nissan Murano brand at about 05:00p.m, on 29 September.

The officers of Sabunchu Police Department immediately carried out special operations to arrest Farhad Guluyev, who was charged with willful murder (Article 120) and possessing arms illegally (Article 228).

The operation revealed Guluyev was in Ramana settlement with Nissan Murano sedan and he was demanded to render harmless voluntarily. Guluyev and his close friend Azad Guluyev who was also in car, refused to obey police and fired at the members of the operation team, posing danger for the surrounding people. Farhad and Azad Guluyev died in a shooting.

The examination conducted at the scene of incident, revealed 1 Makarov revolver, bullets, 1 F-1 grenade, 1 dagger, 16 shells and drugs.

The report also said Guluyev was made answerable under various charges including murder and illegally possessing arms. He has been sentenced to 13 years in jail by the Court for Heinous Crimes. He shot dead his village fellow Hidayat Huseynov on 1 September 2008 and deviated from investigation. Revolver of TT brand was confiscated on the same day from one of the relatives of murdered Huseynov. The examination in Guluyev's sedan of Lincoln brand revealed one more revolver of Mauzer brand.
