19 Border Violators Detained in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 October / Trend corr. S.Kazimli / A total of 19 people were arrested in September for crossing or attempting to cross the Azerbaijani borders.

These are 10 Azerbaijani citizens, three Iranians, two Georgians, two Nigerians, one Russian and one Syrian, the State Border Service told Trend on 10 October.

Some 128 people were detained for the absence of visa. They are 41 Iranian citizens, 25 Turkish citizens, nine Iraqis, seven Azerbaijanis, five Afghans, five Philippines, five Nigerians, five Pakistanis and other countriesї citizens.

In September 40 people (13 Iranians, six Turkish, four Americans and other countriesї citizens) were detained for expiration of visa term and 41 people (21 Azerbaijanis, 11 Russians, three Iranians and other countriesї citizens) ї for the absence of relevant documents.

Border guards arrested 92 people, who were in search, and handed them over law enforcement bodies in September.

Border guards withdrew more than 25kg of drugs from illegal turnover in the same period.

The Shore Protection inspected schedule rules along the shore of the Caspian Sea and examined five Azerbaijani ships and one boat, as well as one Russian ship.

Border guards detained contraband in the amount of AZN 170,000.
