Cuba Eager to Develop Bilateral Economic Cooperation with Azerbaijan - Ambassador

Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 October / corr Trend N.Abdullayev / The Cuban government is interested in development of the bilateral economic cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The prospects of cooperation will be discussed during the visit of a delegation from Cuba at the beginning of December, Marcello Toress, the Cuban ambassador to Azerbaijan, told Trend said on 29 October.

Ricardo Kabrisas, the state minister, will lead the Cuban governmental delegation.

The second meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cuba will be held in Baku, Toress said.

The economic relations between the two countries entered to a new phase of development last year. The first meeting of Azerbaijani-Cuban intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held in Havana at the end of 2007, with major accent on the current state of economic ties and prospects of their growth.   

During the visit it is planned to view approximately ten draft agreements in the fields of culture, trade, sport, tourism and energy will be envisaged.

According to official statistics of Azerbaijan, in the first six months of 2008 the foreign trade turnover between the two countries made up $8.3mln with zero volume of export. However, in July the trade turnover increased up to $156,000 due to the export of Azerbaijan goods.
