Unknown Forces Blow Up Bridge in Georgia-Ossetia Conflict Area

Georgia, Tbilisi, 31 October / Trend corr. N. Kirtskhalia/ This night unknown people blew up a bridge nearby Kveshi village in the Gori district in the Georgia-Ossetia conflict area. No injuries were reported.

Official version of the event has not yet been reported. The bridge connected Georgian villages in Gori district with the controlled separatist area, namely with Artsevi village. According to local Georgian population, the bridge was exploded by Ossetians so that to prevent the EU Observation Mission from monitoring the area controlled by separatists. Shida Kartli Governor Lado Vardzelashvili named this event a terrorism act. " Russia and the separatists do their utmost to prevent local Georgians and Ossetians from communicating. I can not understand whom they are afraid of," he said.
