Azerbaijani Communists to Attend Meeting of Russian Communist Party

Azerbaijan, Baku, November 17/ Trend , corr J. Babayeva/ Representatives of Communist Party of Azerbaijan (CPA) will attend 13th conference of the Communist Party of Russia.

The meeting of the presidium of the party approved participation of Rauf Gurbanov, chief of Central Committee of the Party and Logman Kishiyev, head of permanent representation of the party in Moscow, in the conference.

The conference will be held in Moscow on November 29-30.

Communist Parties of Russia and Azerbaijan have signed Memorandum on Cooperation in 2006 and since then Azerbaijan's Communist Party is invited to all events of their Russian counterparts, Gurbanov said to Trend .

The party based on communist ideology was set up in Azerbaijan in 1903, even before the Great October Socialist Revolution. Leaders of the party which was called Hummat at that time were well-known governmental figures Mashadi Azizbayov, Nariman Narimanov and others. After the demise of USSR in 1991, the Communist Party was shut down. It was restored in 1993.

Left-wing Communist Party of Azerbaijan considers itself to be constructive opposition against the government.
