Iran, Tehran, Dec. 18 /corr. Trend A.Namdari / The head of foreign policy of Iran does not have diplomatic experience, expert on international affairs, professor of Teheran University said in his interview with Trend .
"The officials of Iran do not see the differences between some international questions, and therefore, they hold a radical and non-diplomatic position in international questions," said expert on international affairs, Davud Khermidas Bavend, said on Dec. 18.
The President of France Nicolas Sarkozy said in his speech in the Elysee Palace last week that he does not intended to shake hands with the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and to begin negotiations with it. The rigid speech by Sarkozy was sharply criticized by the officials of Iran, and the country refused to attend the session, dedicated to reconstruction in Afghanistan, in Paris.
Iran had not to mix up the question of Afghanistan with the French-Iranian problem, said Bavend.
Setting up an example from the attitude of the officials of Iran toward the desire of the European Union to open a representation in Teheran, he said that the representation will be opened in order to expand the economic ties between the European Union and Iran.
According to him, in the West the opening of representation and discussion of nuclear question are received as different questions. However, in Iran officials consider that if the European Union wants to open a representation in Teheran, it means that it stepped back from its positions.
"EU's opening a representation in Teheran does not indicate its withdrawal from its positions in the nuclear question of Iran," said Bavend.
Bavend considers that Iran hoped that Barack Obama will change the policy of the USA with respect to Iran, but still the changes are felt. "The officials of Iran make sharp statements, since they could not achieve desired results," said Bavend.
He considers that the internal processes in Iran play a large role in the policy of the USA with respect to Iran. "The upcoming presidential elections in Iran can become a turning point in the attitude of the Western countries to Iran," the expert told Trend on Dec. 18.
"The nuclear program of Iran can be permitted if Iran and the Western countries give up radicalism," said Bavend.
