Iranian energy minister said that the first solar power station was built in Iran's Shiraz town, Mehr Iranian news agency reported.
"The country backs the use of alternative and renewable energy sources. In future alternative energy sources will be greatly developed in the country. The growth of investments in this sphere is expected," Parviz Fattah, Iranian energy minister said.
The first solar power station was built in Shiraz town, mainly by local specialists through domestic means, he said.
