Georgia fully supported by new U.S. administration: President

Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan. 10 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia/ Georgia is fully supported by the new U.S. administration, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said today at a press briefing at the Avlabar residence. President cited several reasons. "The initiative to provide assistance to Georgia in the amount of 1 billion dollars comes from the new Vice-President Joseph Biden. The initiative to introduce free trade in Georgia comes from a U.S. Senate leading democrat Jim Kerry. And all this well demonstrates the support to democracy," he said. Saakashvili stressed that the geopolitics of the United States does not change when the leaders are changed, because it is based on democratic principles. "And this makes the U.S. attractive. The country puts the ideals of democracy and freedom to the basis of everything," President said. Georgian President said that after being elected as President he had a "good talk" with President Barack Obama. "I am pleased to see how he supports us and how he is determined with respect to Georgia," he said. Saakashvili recalled that Vice-President Biden visited Georgia when "we were being bombed but did believe that we will win," he said, adding that the Vice-President even then had a program.

"This is not to support me personally, this is the support to our people and the justice," Saakashvili said.
