Azerbaijani youth and athletes established the For Sustainable Development initiative group on Jan. 19 to support the referendum.
The initiative group unites over 2,000 young people and athletes, Olympic Champion Elnur Mammadli said at the founding meeting.
"We call on the youth and athlete in Azerbaijan to take an active part in voting on the referendum," he said.
The For Sustainable Development initiative group will submit a notification to the Central Election Commission (CEC) on Jan. 19.
On March 18, Azerbaijan will hold a referendum to amend 29 articles of the Constitution.
Azerbaijan's governing party launched the New Azerbaijan initiative group. The opposition Musavat party launched the Republicans initiative group. (CEC) submitted a notification on registration of the governing party's initiative group.
The Azadlig bloc and several non-governmental organizations established the Civil Movement for Republic and Garabag initiative group.
The Azadlig bloc composes the Popular Front Party, National Unity Movement, Citizen and Development Party, Musavat, Umid and the Democratic Party, For Azerbaijan Public Forum.
The Union for Democracy, uniting the Azerbaijan Classic Popular Front Party, Azadlig party, the National Democratic Party, the Great Azerbaijan Party and the People's Party established the People's Republic of Azerbaijan initiative group.
Earlier, NAP Deputy Executive Secretary Mubariz Gurbanli told Trend that the opposition initiative groups would be ineffective.
The Constitution was adopted in 1995. Amendments and additions were made in 2002.
