The Islamic Resistance
Movement Hamas, struggling in Palestine, should change its position.
"If Hamas does not change its position on Israel, no negotiations will be held
with the organization," Council of Europe (CoE) Committee of Ministers
chairman, Spain's Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos told CoE.
He said urged Hamas to stop violence, respect international principles and
recognize Israel as a state.
"We want Hamas to maintain permanent peace. It is therefore imperative to
adhere to a rigid and strong position against Hamas," he said.
Initiatives for peace in the Middle East are continuing, Moratinos said, adding
that the EU should not allow Hamas to control the Gaza Strip. He said it is
important to strengthen the Council of the Palestinian Autonomy.
