Azerbaijani Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Rail Rzayev was shot in front of his home on 125 I. Gutgashinli St. on Feb. 11, Yasamal District Prosecutor's Office told Trend .
He was seriously wounded and taken to the hospital where he died.
Republican Military Prosecutor's Office officers are investigating the crime scene.
Rzayev was born in Baku on March 10, 1945. In 1978, he graduated from the Marshal Zhukov Air Defense Military Command Academy. From 1966, he held different positions in the Baku air defense military district. From 1969, he served in military units. From 1978, he was military unit divisional commander. From 1980, he served as military unit deputy commander, from 1982 - military unit commander. From 1993, he served as deputy defense minister and air force commander.
Rzayev was married with three children.
