Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Feb.13 / Trend , E. Hasanov / USAID and the Supreme Council on Science and Technology at the President of Turkmenistan opened a training center on international financial reporting standards (IFRS) on Feb.13, a source at the U.S. Embassy to Turkmenistan said.

The teachers of higher educational institutes will be trained on introduction of IFRS in Turkmen higher educational institutes and have access to necessary resources for further professional promotion in this center.

IFRS will strengthen Turkmenistan's potential for trade and economic cooperation in the international arena, the U.S. temporary charge d'affaires Richard Milce said.

"We know how integration into the global economic system and attraction of foreign investments are important for Turkmenistan," the official said.

The assistance of USAID in opening the training center is realized under project "Economic Reforms to Enhance Competitiveness" (EREC). This project, through introducing courses Certified Accounting Practitioner (CAP), which is a part of CIPA program, supports one of the priority directions of the government on improvement of the education system.

Since 1993, USAID has been co-operating with Turkmenistan to improve health, develop agriculture and support initiatives of local communities.
