Road police conducts raids on transportation of passengers in Baku

Approximately 1,113 facts of traffic regulations violated by drivers of passenger buses were registered during the raid conducted by road police in Baku for the last three days.

The registered violations include 16 - passage on red light of traffic lights, 441- violation of regulations on passenger transportation, 257 - driving without driving license or necessary category, 11 - no passing of technical inspection, Vaqif Asadov, head of the State Road Police Department of Baku told Trend on Feb. 18.

Nearly 250 cars were removed to penalty area during this period.

The registered accidents of 2008 in Baku include about 138 committed by drivers of buses, as a result 29 people died, 178 wounded.

Drivers stopping buses away from bus stop, transporting more passengers than seats will be punished, Asadov said.

On Feb. 18 the State Road Police Department of Baku held a meeting with drivers of buses and owners of cars regarding raids of road police in Baku.
During the meeting drivers of buses and owners of cars were firmly called for following regulations on transportation of passengers.
