Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece to Turkish Minister Kurshad Tuzman and businessman Neretin Chelmida.
Saakashvili met with Turkish businessmen who participated in the Georgian-Turkish business forum in Tbilisi and Batumi on Feb. 24-25.
"This is very important for us that Turkish businessmen are ready to invest in Georgia once again - and this time a large amount," Saakashvili said.
He described current Georgia-Turkey economic relations as a breakthrough and unprecedented in the region.
Saakashvili said Turkey plays an important role in developing a free economic zone in Batumi and Poti.
"Our energy cooperation is successfully developing. New hydropower stations and transmission facilities will be built with Turkish funds. This will increase Georgia's export opportunities," Saakashvili said.
Tuzmen said the award was unexpected. He added that he will do his utmost to assist Georgia.
