Narcotics smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan prevented

Narcotics smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan was prevented.

Officers could remove narcotics which were smuggled from Iran to Azerbaijan from turnover as a result of operation measures, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry Central Narcotics Combat Department's southern regional office told Trend on Feb. 27.

Officers found 120 gram of opium, 18 methadone and 10 other psychotropic tablets on Iranian citizen Rugiyya Eshikagasi. She was arrested at a bus station in Lankaran (270 kilometers south of Baku after crossing a customs border in Astara. Eshikagasi said that she uses narcotics.

The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry Central Narcotics Combat Department filed a lawsuit on this case in accordance with the Article 234.4.3 (illegal acquisition, maintenance, transportation, dispatch and sale of large number of drugs) and 206.2 (smuggling) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
