Banned religious books were seized from the home of a radical religious man in Sumgayit.
Sumgayit police officers seized 30 books on various religious topics, two booklets and 48 CDs from Islam Ganiyev's home in Beton Zavod.
Ganiyev was convicted earlier, the Interior Ministry's press service said.
Ganiyev was sentenced to 5 days in jail.
A case has been filed.
The Azerbaijani State Committee for Religious Associations reported earlier that the importation and dissemination of 59 radical religious books was prevented in 2008.
There were 102 registered religious communities in Azerbaijan in 2008.
