Turkish member of parliament says the United States will not recognize the so-called Armenian genocide and will not become puppet of Armenian lobby.

"The U.S. will not become puppet of Armenian lobby and will not recognize so-called Armenian genocide," Turkey's Saadat party leader Numan Kurtulmush said to Trend over telephone from Ankara.

Armenians mark anniversary of the so-called Armenia genocide on April 24. By distorting historical facts, Armenians claim they were subject to genocide. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposed Armenian President to launch a joint commission to investigate events. However, Armenia turned down the proposal claiming that the country is sure interpretation of events.

Kurtulmush said by using "genocide" Armenian lobby puts political pressure on Turkey and Azerbaijan in an effort to prevent development of these countries.

"New White House Administration realizes that by recognizing "genocide" it can lose Turkey, its strong ally in the region," Kurtulmush said.

Historical events must not be used as a means of political pressure, he said.
