EU chairman's statement on agreement between, Russia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia

The country, which presides over the European Union, expresses a deep concern on the achieved agreement between Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The paper envisages a joint protection of borders between the countries. This paper contradicts six points of the agreement Aug. 12, 2008, the EU today's press release says. 

EU chairman supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

The presidium was prepared to support all efforts for peace resolution to the conflict with Georgia. Security issues must be discussed at adjusted international forums, in particular at the Geneva discussions. The next session of Geneva forum will be held on May 18-19.
