Azerbaijan, Baku, May 8 / Trend , U.Sadikova /
The Palestinian Administration does not intend to stop negotiations with the leaders of Hamas and form a new government without the participation of its members, said Nabil Shaat, head of Fatah delegation during the talks with Hamas in Egypt.
"Negotiations take time, but information that Fatah forms a new government [without participation of Hamas] is not correct, former Foreign Minister of the PA Shaat told Trend in a telephone conversation from Cairo. - The main thing for us is to form a national [Palestinian] government.
The head of the Palestinian Administration Mahmoud Abbas intends to entrust the former Prime Minister of the Palestinian government under the leadership of Fatah Salem Fayyadu to form a new Cabinet of Ministers, which, however, did not include representatives of Fatah, Arabic Al-Sharq al-Ausat newspaper reported.
Earlier the media informed that Abbas intends to form a government without participation of Hamas, since the talks with the leaders of the Movement over two months yielded no results.
After the Israeli military operations in Gaza against members of the Movement in December and January, Fatah and Hamas re-established national Palestinian dialogue. Two Palestinian factions have been quarrelling for two years after the armed clashes in Gaza in summer 2007, as a result of which Hamas gained control over the enclave.
The last round of negotiations between Fatah and Hamas, which are mediated by Egypt, was completed in late April.
The main principle of the agreements, on the basis of which a united government will be established in Palestine, is five committees, which will include representatives of Fatah and Hamas.
Shaat added that during the meeting of the new parties, which will be held from 16 to 18 May, the parties intend to consider the proposals of Cairo, as well as to agree upon establishing a committee on defense forces, which will include Fatah and Hamas.
Shaat denies the existence of serious problems in the Palestinian negotiating sides, which could lead to failure in the national dialogue.
