Imposing veto on prolonging the OSCE mandate mission gives right to Georgia to raise an issue to expand the European Union (EU) mandate. It is necessary to raise the issue to expand the EU mandate at the moment, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations Akaki Minashvili said.

Russia imposed veto on prolonging the mission's activity and demanded to open an independent mission in the occupied territory. The 56 OSCE countries' negotiations to maintain the mission will be likely stopped, and the employees of the mission will have to leave Georgia on June 30.

"Russia once again showed everybody that it is a destructive force. It is clear that the unrest not only in Georgia, but also in Caucasus and world meets Russia's interests," Minashvili said.

The way chosen by Russia is the way of self-isolation and will damage Russia itself, he said.
