Iran's defense technology production has grown 3 times, Iran's Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said. Production of Sijil-2 ballistic missile, launch of rockets and growth in production of defense technology by 3 times shows that Iranian Defense Ministry has an appropriate development program, FARS quoted Najjar as saying.
Najjar said the Defense Ministry has designed "a road map" to produce defense technology of strategic nature.
The United States and West has adopted resolution and imposed sanction against Iran to halt its nuclear program. The U.S. suggests that Iran supports terrorists and produces mass destruction weapons. The first sanction against Iran was imposed in 1979. The U.S. has extended and expanded sanctions ever since. Though Iran suspended uranium enrichment plan for three years in 2003, the plan was resumed in 2006. The UN Security Council has imposed 3 sanctions and adopted 5 resolutions against Iran in a bid to halt country's nuclear program.
Iran tested Sijil-2 rocket on May 22. Unlike previous rockets, Sijil-2 is operated by a solid fuel.
