U.S finances workshop to prevent HIV among drug users in Turkmenistan

The workshop on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) among users of drugs is held in Ashgabat. The meeting is held within POTENTIAL project financed by U.S Agency for International Development (USAİD) together with the ministry of health and medical industry of the country, the U.S embassy's press-release said. 

Specialists and representaives on work with population of Turkmen state medical institute's narcology chair and preventive measures on drug addiction center, alcoholism and mental diseases were invited to participate in the workshop. Participants include specialists on work with population of communication center on medical consulation and rendering of social services to users of drugs to be opened in Ashgabat supported by POTENTIAL project. 

The workshop is directed to improve knowledge of professionals on work with population cocerning HIV and infectious deseases prevetive masures. The workshop will be held by international consultant of Hope consultation-diagnostic center of Kazakhstan. Sessions of seminar will include descussions on effective comunication and work with clients. 

POTENTIAL project suport Turkmenistan in development of infrastructure for large scale fight with global desease like HIV. The project represents several organizations operating to pevent HIV. It is one of numerous projects in Turkmenistan being possible due to suport of U.S people. USAID has been cooperating with Turkmenistan to improve health, development of agriculture, suport of public initiatives and economic growth since 1993.
