U.S. not considers issue on placement of military bases in Uzbekistan: American diplomat (UPDATE)
U.S. Ambassador in Kazakhstan Richard Hoagland denied the information on placement of military bases in Uzbekistan, KazTAG reported.
"The issue on placement of a military base in Uzbekistan is not considered by the U.S. administration," the ambassador told a news conference in Kazakhstan.
The Uzbek government proposed to use the Navoi airport for transportation of non-homicidal commodities to support military forces in Afghanistan.
"These commodities are delivered to Navoi airport by air and to Afghanistan by lorries, but they are military commodities," the ambassador said.
In case of the military base in Kyrgyzstan closed, there are alternative bases, he said.
"We are considering alternative versions," Hoagland added.
He denied recent information by media about the U.S. intends to place its military base in the Central Asia.
