Chairman of the Georgian parliament's Euro-Integration Committee David Darchiashvili said while commenting on Russia's actions in the UN that "Russia played a big political farce and openly voted against the U.S. and Europe."
Russia vetoed extending mandate of the UN mission to Georgia at the UN Security Council meeting as council members reiterated their support for Georgia's territorial integrity and did not support draft resolution that did not reflect this principle.
Darchiashvili this open demarche by Russia will certainly influence Russia-U.S. and Russia-Europe relations in future. "Russia will be described as force acting against international law and aggressor," he said.
Darchiashvili said the situation in Gal region remains acute and international community will have to work hard to protect local population. "The remaining people in the region need support including humanitarian one," he said.
