Participants of armed incident on Azerbaijani-Iranian border were members of radical group

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 20/ Trend , J.Babayeva / The participants of the armed incident, which occurred near the Asadly village of Jalilabad District of Azerbaijan on the border with Iran, were members of radical groups. During identification of the participants of the incident, the investigation revealed their links with illegal armed group Meshe Gardashlari ("Forest Brothers"), said the joint statement by the State Border Service and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan on June 20.

June 18, two people wanted to illegally pass the Azerbaijani-Iranian border. Initially an oral warning was made to them, but violators did not attach any importance to this. Both offenders held hand grenades in their hands. They threatened the border guards and began moving towards the Iranian border. The border guards were forced to shoot a warning fire. After the fire, the offenders blew up grenades one after another. The blast killed both offenders and soldier Iskenderov Elton (born in 1990), and two officers of the border troops were seriously wounded.

During inspection over the violators of the border, were found passports belonging Hashimov Sadig, born in 1986 in Baku, and Mammadov Ramin born in 1981 in the village of Boyuk Bahmanli of Azerbaijan's Fizuli district, as well as currency and a compass.

The investigation revealed their relationship with members of the "Forest Brothers" Azer Misirkhanov and Elshan nicknamed "Abdulaziz", the statement says.

During operational measures in various addresses in Fizuli district and Sahil village of Garadagh district, the operational-investigation group found a lot of banned religious literature, propagandistic CD.

A criminal case was filed over the fact. Investigation is continuing.
