Georgian television to show only Russian films in Russian

The Georgian Parliament prepares a bill, providing the demonstration of only Russian films in Russian in the Georgian television. Now almost all foreign films are demonstrated in Russian.

The legislative proposal on regulating film dubbing and subtitling will be introduced this autumn chairman of the parliamentary committee on education, culture and science George Gabashvili told Trend .

Foreign films dubbed into Russian will be more probably demonstrated in Russian-speaking channels, while the Georgian channels will demonstrate them in a fixed airtime.

Alania is the only Russian-speaking channel in Georgia.

The rest details will be included in a bill which is currently under development, Gabashvili said. Foreign films should be dubbed or subtitled into Georgian before their demonstration in Georgian channels, he added.
