Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Daniel Fried arrived yesterday in Tbilisi as special representative of U.S. Department of State. Fried will hold a meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze on August 6. According to the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, the meeting will begin at 11 a.m and will be closed for media.
Fried's other several meetings are planned to be held in Tbilisi, but all of them will be closed for media.
According to unofficial information, during his visit to Tbilisi Fried will discuss with the Georgian side possible expansion of EU mission in conflict zones of Georgia owing to U.S observers. Concrete issues within the framework of the Charter on strategic partnership signed between the USA and Georgia will be also considered.
Fried will leave Georgia on August 6 in the afternoon.
