The Chairman of the Georgian Parliament David Bakradze hopes that within the Charter on Strategic Partnership, the United States will help Georgia with relevant military equipment, Bakradze briefed the media.
One of the directions of the Charter signed between Georgia and the U.S. is to cooperate with regards to security in order to improve the defense capacity of the country. In this respect, assistance with equipment is intended.
"However, everything has to take place step by step. At this stage, it deals with the assistance in training the army, devising doctrine, in the sphere of communications. But this cooperation will continue, and I hope that within this, the assistance to Georgia with the relevant equipment is real," said Bakradze.
The Speaker stressed that the United States remains a partner of Georgia, and during his visit to Moscow the President Obama confirmed this.
"Speaking about Georgia, President Obama said that a new aggression against it is unacceptable. The security of Georgia was indeed a topic of discussions between the highest-ranking politicians," Bakradze said.
