OSCE special envoy to discuss opening of Georgia office in Tbilisi

Special Envoy of Greece's presidency in the OSCE, Kharlampos Khristopolus arrived in Tbilisi.

Hristropolus will meet with representatives of the Georgian government to discuss the prospects for opening the OSCE office in Tbilisi, as well as the upcoming Geneva talks on security in the Caucasus, Chairman of the Georgian Foreign Ministry's Department on International Organizations, Sergi Kapanadze, said at a regular Monday briefing on Aug.10. 

"As you know, Russia has blocked the OSCE mission in Georgia, demanding an equal representation in Tskhinvali and based on that at this stage we consider on the opening of the OSCE office in Tbilisi," Kapanadze said.

This office will assist in the negotiations in Geneva format and the meetings on mechanisms for prevention of incidents in the conflict zones, Kapanadze added.
