Georgia will officially quit the CIS on Aug. 18, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalaganiya said a briefing on Monday.

On Aug. 18, 2008 the Georgian Foreign Ministry notified the CIS about Parliament's decision to quit the organization. He said that under the CIS regulations, the country's formal withdrawal from the organization lasts 12 months. Accordingly, the formal procedure will finish tomorrow.
