New U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Tina Kaydanov, is replacing Matthew Bryza. She will hold the first meetings in Georgia in September.

The Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Paata Davitaia, on a visit to the USA, told media that he had already met with Kaydanov in Washington. It was announced that she will visit Georgia in September and meet with representatives of both the administration and the opposition.

The situation in conflict zones and the consequences were discussed at the meeting, Davitaia said. But for the most part the two-hour-meeting was dedicated to analyses of Georgia's internal policy.

Kaydanov said that the U.S administration pays great attention to the development of democracy in Georgia and it is carefully following election code improvements, the Deputy Speaker said.

He stressed that great attention will be paid to the development of democratic processes in Georgia.

"The stronger Georgian democracy is, the more U.S support there will be," Davitaia said.
