Azerbaijani opposition party will nominate 432 people at the municipal elections in regions.

"The process to identify candidates to municipalities in different districts of Baku will be completed by Sept. 15," chairman of the Azerbaijani Liberal Democratic Party, Fuad Aliyev, told Trend on August 31.

Azerbaijani municipal elections are scheduled for mid. of December 2009. Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.

The Azerbaijani Parliament adopted the law 'Unification of several municipalities' in May.

Aliyev said that about 600 members of the party were elected to local municipalities at previous elections. "I think that that the number of members of our party, elected in municipalities, will not decrease at the upcoming elections," the chairman said.

Liberal-Democratic party was established in 1999. Party chairman Zakir Mammadov died in 2000. Party split in 2001. Valekh Ibadov and Fuad Aliyev pretended for chairmanship in the party. Party headed by Fuad Aliyev was recognized as Liberal-Democratic party and was registered upon decision of the Supreme Court in 2004.
