German Ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder supported Kazakhstan's presidency in the OSCE, which will begin in 2010.
"Regarding Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE, I was one of those politicians who supported this idea, and I'm staying at the same position," Schröder said at the Eurasian Energy Forum in Astana.
He said Kazakhstan is the state, the rapidly developing in the region. Schröder expressed his hope that the country will fulfill the mission entrusted to it with dignity.
"As to a critical milestone, I prefer to discuss this at personal meetings with government officials and policy makers, and therefore want to emphasize that I consider the decision of the OSCE right," said Schröder.
