Spanish King sends greeting to Turkmen President

Spanish King Juan Carlos and Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero gave greetings and best wishes to Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The Government Press Office reported that the Spanish Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, Juan Antonio Marc Pujol conveyed the greetings, when presenting his credentials to the Speaker of the Turkmen Parliament, Akja Nurberdiyeva on Oct. 5.
The Speaker of the National Parliament and the Ambassador spoke at the meeting about further expansion of fruitful collaboration on a bilateral basis and within the European Union, over which Spain will preside in January 2010.
Brussels is interested in Turkmenistan due to the world's largest natural gas reserve and diversifying energy sources. In particular, Turkmenistan's participation in the Nabucco pipeline project is under active discussions. Turkey, connected with one of the key potential suppliers, Azerbaijan, is a key transit country in this project.
Official Ashgabat has recently signaled its willingness to supply the Nabucco and the decision to bring its gas fields to the shores of the Caspian Sea, from where - under the project, it is necessary to lay an additional branch in Azerbaijan on the seabed.
The Spanish diplomat held a series of meetings in key sectoral ministries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The priorities were identified trade, fuel and energy complex, construction. "The leading Spanish companies are willing to strengthen on the promising Turkmen market and take an active part in joint projects," the diplomat noted.
During his stay in Ashgabat, Juan Antonio Marc Pujol acquainted with the main directions of domestic and foreign policies of Turkmenistan, as well as priorities of large-scale projects in the country.
