The GUAM Parliamentary Assembly members will participate in the presidential elections as observers. The elections will be held in Ukraine on Jan.17. This decision was made on the fourth GUAM PA Congress in Tbilisi on Nov. 9.
The GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili made a report on the adopted resolution.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine chairman made a statement on participation in elections, Vano Khukhuneshvili said.
Participation in the presidential elections is not the first precedent. Similar practice has already taken place in Azerbaijan, Khukhuneishvili said.
A new resolution on committees work was adopted in the Congress within the Parliamentary Assembly.
Another committee, the Regional Security Committee, was established besides three ones. At present, the Culture Committee deals with ecology.
