Tonight one hundred and seventy-three Georgian soldiers will fly to Afghanistan to carry out peacekeeping mission. The ceremony took place at the military base in Vaziani. Soldiers of the 23rd battalion of the second infantry brigade will participate in the ISAF operation in the zone of responsibility of France, the Head of the Department of Strategic Planning of Joint Staff of Georgian Armed Forces J5 Nick Janjgava told reporters.

The second part of the Georgian military contingent will leave for Afghanistan in February and will serve already in the zone of responsibility of the United States.

"This mission is very important for the Georgian Armed Forces, as it is held under the auspices of NATO," said Janjgava.
