The topic "South Caucasus: the sources of separatism, conflict solution and long-term peace" was discussed in Tbilisi at the scientific-practical conference organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia in cooperation with the Tbilisi State University named after Ivan Javakhishvili.
The conference focused on the causes of conflicts in South Caucasus, their historical background, possible ways of resolving, the conditions necessary for establishing long-term peace and prosperity in the region. All speeches emphasized that in the presence of the distinctive features of the conflicts around Karabakh, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, an essential precondition for a lasting and durable peace in South Caucasus is the respect for the sovereignty of nations and the restoration of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders in the Southern Caucasus, the Embassy told Trend on Nov. 21.
The conference was attended by the ambassadors of Germany, Iraq and Romania, employees of the embassies of Hungary, the Czech Republic, Japan, Kazakhstan and Iran, government representatives and MPs of Georgia, Georgian and Azerbaijani scientists, as well as journalists.
Conference participants noted consistency and successfulness of the foreign policy pursued by Azerbaijan and its President Ilham Aliyev, in particular towards the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
