AGO Group mulls political and social situation with Azerbaijani opposition

During a visit to Baku from Nov. 23, the AGO Group discussed with the Azerbaijani opposition in Baku the country's political and social situation and municipal and parliamentary elections, Umid Party Chairman Igbal Agazade told Trend News today.

During a visit to Baku from Nov. 23, the AGO Group discussed with the Azerbaijani opposition in Baku the country's political and social situation and municipal and parliamentary elections, Umid Party Chairman Igbal Agazade told Trend today. 

"The sides discussed human rights and freedom of media, the issue of the imprisoned journalists and the court's decision regarding young bloggers," he said. "We said international organizations should pose a question to Azerbaijan about releasing these young bloggers. The AGO Group said they will raise this question in their meeting with senior Azerbaijani officials."

Agazade added that the meeting was attended by leaders of the Azerbaijani Democrat, Musavat and Umid parties, as well as the parties in the Azadlig bloc, including the Azerbaijani National Front, Liberal and Society and Development parties, and For the Sake of Azerbaijan Public Forum head Eldar Namazov.
