Only ruling New Azerbaijan Party can use the free ether time for municipal elections: CEC

Only the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) can use the free ether time to hold agitation on the municipal elections, the press secretary of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Azer Sariyev briefed the media.
"According to the legislation, the party, whose candidates are registered in more than half of the municipalities, can use free ether time. Only NAP achieved this indicator," Sariyev said.
Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on December 23. During these elections, 15,682 members will be elected for 1,718 municipalities. Formerly elections were held twice - in 1999 and 2004.
16,200 approved candidates for municipal elections have higher education. Of the candidates, 6,222 are women. In total, 35,760 candidates nominated for municipal elections.
