The Salyan-Neftchala District Election Commission (DEC) No.60 recorded the high voter turnout in the Azerbaijani municipal elections.
Voter turnout in this DEC is 14.58 percent so far by 10:00 a.m.[local time ] Dec. 23, the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission's (CEC) Elections Information Center told Trend .
Azerbaijan launched the municipal elections. The country has about 4.6 million registered voters.
Voting began in constituencies throughout the country at 08:00 a.m.
About 15,682 members are planned to be elected to 1,718 municipalities.
Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.
Azerbaijan has registered about 31,000 candidates for municipal members. Candidates from 16 political parties have been registered for elections.
The CEC will provide information on ballots at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The municipal elections will be finished at 7:00 p.m.
