On the occasion of the birthday of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, a group of employees of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan climbed the "Ilham Peak" on Dec 21-24, which is located in the Shahdagh mountain mass in the Great Caucasus Mountains at a height of 4,042 meters. The group of climbers reached the peak named after the Head of State on Dec. 24 at 13:00, the Ministry's public relations department told Trend .
The participants began climbing the peak from the village of Hinalig of Guba district. The alpinists of the Ministry hoisted the national flag of Azerbaijan on "Ilham Peak". The alpinists of the Dag sport club also attended the campaign, together with the employees of the Ministry.
The purpose of this event which has become traditional is to demonstrate the adherence and support for the wise internal and external political course taken by the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev in the name of national interests. At the same time, such actions are the embodiment of state care about the development of sport, its extreme forms and youth in the country.
The campaign was held with the support of the State Border Service, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Dag sport club. The campaign took place in extreme weather conditions.
