Gang engaged in illegal drug trafficking was defused in Azerbaijan's territory bordering with Iran

On the border with Iran, Azerbaijan neutralized groups engaged in illegal drug trafficking.

Two persons involved in drug trafficking in large volumes were arrested as a result of operational search activities conducted by the staff of the Interior Ministry and the State Customs Committee in Bilasuvar region located in the south of Azerbaijan, press officer of the Interior Ministry Ehsan Zahidov told Trend .

The inhabitants of the Barda city Ibragimov Ruslan, born in 1977, and Jabbarov Jalil, born in 1979, were detained as suspects on the territory of the Mugan village. 15 kilograms of marijuana and two kilograms of heroin were discovered and seized upon inspection in the car VAZ-21011 with the state number 11 BD 368, driven by Ibragimov. Both individuals were arrested as a preventive measure.   

Police and customs staff detained three more members of the criminal group - Elnur Gambarov, Zaur Huseynov and Elnur Amrahov. Criminal cases were filed with regards to those persons under various provisions of the Criminal Code. Currently operational search is continuing.
