Tbilisi City Administration launched a full rehabilitation of David Agmashenebeli prospect. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili attended the presentation of the project Jan.29.

The government planned this project for a long time, but it was not possible to start its realization due to financial problems, Saakashvili added

Aghmashenebeli Prospect will be soon resemble Paris streets, the President said

"Realization of this project means that thousands of people will be provided with jobs. Many opposed to realization of the project. Moreover, the radical opposition even organized a rally and accused us that we are destroying Tbilisi. This project is a clear evidence of the fact that our opponents are lying," Saakashvili stated

"Tbilisi will be the best city despite all the criticism," Saakashvili said

"Our vision is oriented for the future and in any case we will bring it to the end. However, it will be possible only if we all unit and not allow anyone to stop the construction. This project is one of the most important priorities of the Government," President said

"I was born and grew up in this part of town, but it was always in poor condition. Now this prospect will became better than ever. This area most resembles Paris, and we will make it look like Paris," Saakashvili

About 70 houses will be reconstructed under the project. Arts critics and architects carried out research, designers and geologists examined the physical condition of buildings, after which work on some areas have already begun. Some 30 houses will be repaired

Studies showed that most part of the building was in bad conditions and each of them needs fundament strengthening. The construction companies also planned restoration of fronts

The first phase of work began with the Queen Tamar prospect and Mardzhanishvili square.
