Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 4 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /
Georgia's new constitution must be adopted on the basis of broad consensus of all political parties and forces in the country, Venice Commission Head Gianni Buquicchio said at the news conference in Tbilisi today.
According to him, it is necessary to ensure the stability of the country.
He said that so far he has familiarized only with new version of the Georgian Constitution and the final conclusion of the committee will be ready only in early spring of 2010.
"However, we can say just today Georgia needs a constitution of the European style, which would take into account all the European legislation and it will be a modern document of the country's development, "he added.
He considers it necessary to display the constitutional balance between all three branches of government, to ensure greater control of the executive by the Parliament and make a more detailed part of the Constitution with regard to self-government.
"We have established good contacts and we think that cooperation will bring a good result," he said.
