President Islam Karimov announced the winners of the State Prize Zulfiya with his decree, issued traditionally on the eve of International Women's Day.

The decree was published in the official media.

This year's laureates became 14 girls, who study in schools, lyceums, colleges and specialized arts schools and university students from all regions of the country.

They will be awarded with certificates, badges, and money reward in 50 times of the minimum wage ($1,223.4 at current exchange rate).

Under the rules, pupils of schools, lyceums and colleges who awarded with this prize, are admitted to universities without examinations.

Annual State Prize, named after the national poet of Uzbekistan Zulfiya, was established in 1999. The prize is awarded to gifted girls aged under 25, studying in school, lyceum, college and high education institutions, for special achievements in the field of literature, culture, art, science, education and social activities.
